Position Overview
The Service Writer is the bridge between our customers and our service department. You’ll be the first point of contact for riders bringing in their bikes for repair, maintenance, or upgrades—listening carefully, assessing needs, and clearly communicating service options and timelines. This role blends technical understanding of bicycles with exceptional customer service skills to ensure every rider leaves confident their bike is in good hands.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and listen carefully to their service needs.
- Conduct initial bike inspections and document issues accurately.
- Prepare and explain service estimates, including parts and labor, in a clear and friendly manner.
- Schedule service work and coordinate with technicians to meet promised timelines.
- Maintain accurate service records in our point-of-sale/service tracking system.
- Communicate proactively with customers regarding updates, changes, or additional work needed.
- Assist with parts ordering and ensure timely arrival for scheduled repairs.
- Support sales floor operations when needed, such as answering product questions or assisting with accessory recommendations.
- Keep the service counter and workspace organized, clean, and customer-ready.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of bicycles, components, and basic repair terminology (technical training preferred but not required).
- Excellent communication and active listening skills.
- Proven customer service experience, preferably in a retail or service-based environment.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Comfortable using point-of-sale or service ticket software.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with a passion for cycling.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move bicycles (up to 50 lbs).
- Standing for extended periods during shift.
