cabda west

Sunny San Diego in January?! Count us in!

We’re gearing up to attend the second annual CABDA West, January 15th-16th at the Del Mar Racetrack outside of San Diego. We’ve sent our UBI team to CABDA in Chicago before, and have to admit we’re more than a little thrilled that they’ve added a west coast version in sunshine-land.

bike lover holiday gift guide

Shopping for your favorite rider doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Whether the two-wheeler on your gift list is a gear-head or newbie, whether they prefer spandex or knee pads (or both), we’ve got gift ideas anyone can buy...no bike knowledge needed.

Side note: we totally recommend bike knowledge. Check out our 2020 class schedule here.

From the miles and miles of Ashland single track to our amazing students and staff, we have so much to be thankful for year-round at UBI. During Thanksgiving week, while classes are out-of-session, we want to take a second and reflect on all things in our bike world that bring us ridiculous amounts of joy.

With a ton of gratitude for our faculty, staff and students up north, our UBI team closed our Portland Campus doors for the final time this September. While we absolutely loved being a part of the Portland biking community and all the big-city opportunities it afforded, we’re also excited to have all of our team, resources and students under one roof at our primary campus in Ashland, Oregon.

Ana Fajardo, QBP Bike Mechanic recipient for 2018, shows off her completely built wheel!

Interview by B Vivit

Ana Fajardo was a little quiet during class but when you could give her the mic, it was overwhelming the amount of emotion that came out of such a small package! An ambassador for us from Florida, she's visited a few times since her time with the scholarship(due to another opportunity with Another scholarship!) and we were so happy she stopped in to say hi. We truly cannot wait to see all the incredibe programs that she's working on with 2019 QBP Bike Mechanic Scholarship recipient Kristiina Thompson as well. The QBP Bike Mechanic Scholarship brings together lots of folks from all walks of life and creates a country-wide (and starting this year, nearly continent-wide) support structure for those who have the most trouble picturing where they fit into this industry. As well as teaching hands-on mechanics to folks trying to take the next step in their careers.
