SUMMARY  

Expertly provide quality tune-ups and bike repairs. Safely fitting and renting bikes and biking accessories. Responsible for selling retail goods, apparel, and accessories to the public. Obtaining payment for goods sold and/or rented. Utilizing point-of-sale system and balancing daily receipts. As a customer-focused organization, a crucial part of each employee’s job is to get and keep guests. A key part of every employee's job is to serve as a Targhee ambassador, engaging the guest at every opportunity. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Including the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Provide superior service to all guests—general public and Grand Targhee employees—maintaining a friendly and enthusiastic attitude. 
  • Inspect, repair, and service customers' bicycles. 
  • Assist in generating bike and accessory sales. 
  • Perform bike tuning functions and fill work tickets when major maintenance or repairs are required. 
  • Build all levels of bikes from the box to a safe, ride-ready bike. 
  • Greet guests and discuss the type, quality, and quantity of merchandise sought for rental. 
  • Rent and fit bikes, helmets, and other protective gear to guests. 
  • Prepare rental forms, obtaining customer signature and other information. Understand rental forms and waivers of liability. 
  • Explain rental fees, policies, and procedures. 
  • Inspect and adjust rental items to meet customer needs. 
  • Receive, examine, and tag articles to be altered, cleaned, stored, or repaired. 
  • Check in all new merchandise, stock shelves, arrange windows, and create displays. 
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of store inventory. 
  • Observe scheduled work times. 
  • Conduct physical inventories when needed. 
  • Handle all guest issues in a respectful manner. 
  • Cross-train to sell in other retail outlets. 
  • Direct guests to the appropriate merchandise, providing them with adequate information (current trends, technical details, fabric characteristics, etc.) to make a satisfactory purchase. 
  • Accept payment efficiently, with courtesy and diplomacy, entering the appropriate form of payment in the cash register, counting change properly, and verifying any credit card transactions. 
  • Balance the cash register by counting the cash drawer at both the beginning and the end of the work shift following current policies and procedures. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, holidays, and weekends. 

RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY: 

  1. Protect the safety of self-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests. 
  2. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay. 
  3. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor. 
  4. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures. 
  5. Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others. 
  6. Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  

This job has no supervisory responsibilities with staff. 

Work Schedule 

Due to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends and holidays and there is no guarantee of hours. Flexible working hours may be required based on the business levels.   

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous bike mechanic experience is required along with strong mechanical abilities. Previous cash handling and guest service experience is required.

  • Strong mechanical knowledge of bikes and bike-related accessories. 
  • Ability to work with the public in a friendly, professional manner.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS  

Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.  

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

 Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. 

REASONING ABILITY  

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
