Sockeye Cycle Co. seeks a Bicycle Mechanic to join our team in Haines, Alaska. This person will complete assembly, maintenance, and repairs, for our tour and rental bike fleet, along with bike service and sales for local residents. The mechanic works with our Haines-based tour and office team to operate the bike shop and support the tour and rental operations.

Main Responsibilities:

• Perform tune-ups and maintenance on a fleet of standard bicycles and e-bikes.
  • Maintain records of service history for fleet bikes.
• Take in bikes for local service and manage the repair schedule to complete repairs quickly.
• Assemble new bicycles.
• Manage and track inventory of bike parts and accessories.
  • Collaborate on the ordering of bikes, parts, & equipment to replenish stock.
• Use our POS (Lightspeed) to sell bikes, components, and accessories.
• Rent bikes to customers and go over proper usage.

Applicants should have customer service and bike maintenance experience, ideally with certifications or shop experience. Skills training including subsidized professional certifications are available.

This is a full-time, seasonal position with a start date on or before 4/15/25 and work through at least 9/15/25. Longer or year-round contracts are also available for the right person.

Starting compensation is $20-$22 per hour depending on experience. The position has room for growth with additional benefits available to year-round employees.
