Tubes Bike Shop is a new, cool bike shop/bar located in St. Joseph, MO, about an hour north of Kansas City. We opened in November 2022. St. Joe is home to some of the best mountain biking trails in the country as well as opportunities for gravel riding and road biking. We currently have just one bike mechanic (a UBI grad) and are looking to add a second mechanic to our team. This position is part time for now but could turn into a full time position. Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented, loves bicycles, has a solid knowledge base of bicycle mechanic skills, is outgoing and personable, and is most importantly passionate about cycling and the cycling community. We are a small company and so are looking for someone who is a team player and will be a great fit with a very small staff and who can work independently when needed.

Duties:

• Provide customers with the highest level of technical service.
• Assist with sales, promote Tubes merchandise, and help increase store profitability.
• Greet and interact with customers and provide exceptional customer service.
• Partner with owners to ensure the service department is operating at the highest level.
• Be willing to complete store duties outside of normal job function based on demands of the business.
• Adhere to company policies and guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Experience with and interest in cycling and the cycling industry (required).
• Experience as a bicycle mechanic including bike repair, set up, tuning and maintenance (required).
• Ability to diagnose bike issues and recommend additional parts and labor when necessary (required).
• Thoroughness in work ethic and dedication to get the job done.
• Positive attitude and motivation.
• Excellent people skills and telephone etiquette.
• Flexibility with hours.
• Weekend availability.
• Occasional evening availability when we are hosting an event.
• Minimum age of 21 years.
• Ability to multi-task and change focus as needed.
• Ability to occasionally work alone.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs while utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques.
• Ability to stand and use hands for extended periods of time.
