Recumbent Trike Mechanic

 

All Out Adventures is seeking an experienced bike mechanic for assemblies, repairs, and accessories installation.  We are a non-profit organization that runs outdoor recreation programs for people with disabilities, seniors, and veterans throughout Massachusetts.  Proceeds from our trike shop support our programs and further our mission.  Most of our recumbent trike customers need our attention and care to ride safely and comfortably.  Learn more here:  https://alloutadventures.org/

 

We will provide training and support specific to recumbent trikes and serving customers with disabilities, seniors, and veterans.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Assembling trikes, with attention to quality and detail
  • Keeping a clean workstation
  • Following and completing assembly and tune-up checklists
  • Troubleshooting and fixing mechanical problems
  • Maintaining the fleet of cycles used in our programs
  • Collaborating with the Recumbent Trike Shop Manager on priorities
  • Helping with program and operations-related tasks as needed

Skills and qualifications:

  • Experienced with bike mechanics
  • Ability to collaborate with sales staff to come up with adaptive solutions for customers
  • Focused, efficient, and detail-oriented with assemblies and repairs
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Ability to help beginning cyclists understand shifting, tire maintenance, etc.
  • Ability to work independently

Physical requirements:

  • Able to lift trikes (30-50 lbs each) with the assistance of another staff member or a pulley system we have rigged up

Hours: This is a part-time position starting immediately and going through mid-October

  • 10-20 flexible weekly hours for a mechanic with the desire and skills to work independently, including evenings after our shop is closed.
  • Our Trike Shop is open, and our manager is in on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays,  and a schedule could be built that includes working directly with customers and our Trike Shop Manager for candidates with less experience and/or would prefer to work alongside other.

Pay Scale:  $20- $25/hour, depending on experience and skill set
