The Grand Canyon South Rim, located north of the gateway town of Tusayan, Arizona spans 278 miles (447 km) of the Colorado River and surrounding uplands. Bike Maintenance Technician
Summary of Position:
Responsible to diagnose and repair all mechanical issues on rental bikes, ensuring the safety of associates and guests.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs and adjustments on a variety of bicycles.
- Diagnose and fix mechanical issues, including, but not limited to brakes, gears, tires and frames.
- Ensure that all bikes meet safety standards before each use by guests and associates.
- Maintain inventory of bike parts and order supplies as necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized workshop and accurately track repairs and maintenance.
- Welcome guests with a warm and friendly smile while providing exceptional bike rental customer service
- Exhibit professional behavior at all times when communicating with guests and fellow employees
- Maintain thorough knowledge of the Company by participating in employee training and quizzes
- Support and understand all safety and environmental requirements
- Understand Company ISO management systems, policies, goals, and initiatives and meet the specific responsibilities within these areas
- Actively participate in creating a positive work environment, promoting team work
- Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
- Experience in bicycle repair and maintenance
- Strong mechanical skills and attention to detail.
- Must be able to work a variety of day, night, weekend, holiday shifts
- Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision, and manage time efficiently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills – must be able to read, write and speak English
- Must be able to meet and/or exceed customer expectations
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally. Position involves frequent bending, twisting, lifting and squatting. Majority of shift will be spent on feet for up to 8 hours per day in a fast paced environment.
Knowledge and Experience:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience: 1 year mechanical maintenance experience preferred
