Ashland, Oregon
Ashland is a bicyclist’s dream, with miles of bike path, single track terrain, ample bike lanes and like-minded bicycle enthusiasts. The bicycle infrastructure makes traveling by bike enjoyable and easy, year round. Whether you choose to take in the town by foot, by pedal, or by car, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to sight see, eat, drink, and catch outdoor vistas galore.
Ashland is part of the legendary Rogue River Valley in Southern Oregon, and is home to the world famous Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The historic downtown looks much like it did at the turn of the century, with quaint shops, craft brew pubs, coffee shops, boutiques, and top-notch restaurants, all within a mile of our campus.
With Gold status as a Bicycle Friendly Community from the League of American Bicyclists, Ashland is a major destination for mountain biking and road cycling alike. An extensive network of incredible single track can be accessed just minutes from UBI’s front door, where a handful of major mountain bike races take place throughout the year.
The Rogue Valley is home to numerous well-known bicycle frame builders, too, including DeSalvo Custom Cycles, Fat Chance, Land Shark, Jeff Jones and Wolfhound Cycles.
All in all, Southern Oregon is a vacationer’s (and biker’s) paradise, offering miles of hiking, bike paths, mountain biking trails, white water rafting, rock climbing, skiing, breweries and wineries. Crater Lake and Redwood National Parks, Oregon Caves National Monument, the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument and the Klamath Wildlife Refuge are just a weekend drive away.
